After reading my friend Laura's blog post about the wonderful morning she and her family spent at the Museum of Natural History in DC I decided that would be a fun way for us to spend a few hours this past Saturday. There's Dinosaurs, an exhibit on Ants, a butterfly enclosure and a hall full of animals, great fun to be had by all right?
Um not so much...The day started out auspiciously well; we found parking, on a Saturday at 1130am in DC, in the middle of the summer tourist nightmare right IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM. A round of applause def goes to Kyle for a job well done!!
The proud Daddy and his parking space :)
The picture below pretty much sums up Sabrina's reaction to the entire Museum. Sheer, unadulterated terror. She clung to Kyle much like a baby spider monkey clings to its mother. Needless to say we toured that place in record time. Hopefully in another year or two she will be mature enough to enjoy the exhibits because it is a pretty cool place.
She did perk up during our picnic lunch on the Mall.
And for some pictures with Mommy and Daddy in front of the Washington Monument.

We ended the outing with a carousel ride, which is one of her most favorite activities so hopefully she will want to go back sometime soon and be a little bit braver :)

Awww! You know, last year Laney was terrified of the dinosaurs at the NHM, too. But the girls liked the glow in the dark space rocks and fossils, so maybe try that route next time. :)
