Sabrina and I took a trip to the grocery store this afternoon to stock up on food. I am not sure where she picked this up (my parents would say if asked that the apple does not fall far from the tree, but what do they know!!,) but she was pointing at pretty much everything and shouting "MINE". People that were in our aisle were just cracking up. It brought to mind one of my favorite Looney Toons cartoons with bugs and daffy. Sab would be daffy in this one. I found it online (isn't the internet great?!) and thought I would share with all of you. Enjoy!! Its short about 5 min but worth the time.

Welcome baby Michl..for real this time :)

Yesterday afternoon at 4:17pm Evan Thomas Michl made his way into the world. He weighed a whopping 9lbs 1 ounce and was 21 inches in length. Elaine is a superhero having delivered this baby into the world without the use of an epidural (ouch) and having experienced strong contractions every minute(!!) for about 12 hours. Mom, Dad and Baby are doing well and getting acquainted with each other and should be home tomorrow. Kyle and I were super excited to meet our little nephew yesterday and cant wait to watch him grow up. Sabrina clapped and smiled when she heard she had a new little cousin to play with. I see a lot of great times in the future with them two growing up together. Congrats Brian and Elaine!!!

Its music time!
On those nights that Kyle gets home early enough from work to play (and bathe and feed) with Sab before her bedtime the house quickly gets filled with ear splitting shrieks, giggles and the sound of pounding feed-and that is only from Kyle-you should hear Sab :) . They play hide and seek, catch me if you can(her 2nd favorite!!) and they boogie down to some rock and roll(her most favorite game). No pop music for our girl, she goes nuts waving her hands and doing a baby version of a headbang whenever hard rock music (think Nirvana or Korn) is played. Lately she has started to make a beeline for Kyle's guitar when she has had enough running around and they play music together. She has pretty good rhythm for a 14 month old!
Pretty Girl
Her hair is finally getting long enough for me to torture her with barrettes and headbands.
Sab has just enough of a girl side to not only preen when she is called pretty, she has started to allow me to put bows and hair bands in her hair. Granted they dont last very long but its progress!!

Guess it has been a while!
Its been a while since my last post. Life here has been a bit hectic with house issues and my birthday but we are getting back on track. :)
Carrying on the proud Michl family tradition of being car obsessed, Kyle has taken to putting Sab on his lap when backing the cars out of the garage so she can learn how to drive. Kyle's mom tells a funny story of how when he and his brother were about 4 or 5 they used to sit in the back seat and tell her when it was time to shift gears when she was driving. Their father had taught them all about the transmission and how to listen to the revs so you know when its time to shift into a higher gear. As you can see Kyle is instructing Sabrina the same way his father did for him. As of right now all she knows how to do is honk the horn(lovely) and turn the wheel but boy does she love doing so!!

A day at the aquarium
On the day between beach trips we took Sabrina to the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center to check out some turtles, really large fish, sharks and sea otters. As young as she was she really was fascinated by all the larger than life(for her at least) fish she saw. This is something she will really enjoy in a year or two but we had a nice afternoon as a family walking around and watching her laugh at the sea otters and be awed by the giant turtles and be a little bit afraid of the sharks.

Happy 4th of July!!
We spent our fourth of July this year at Laura's fiance's, John, Aunt's and Uncle's house on Knott's Island in North Carolina. They have a lovely house with the most beautiful view of the sound. We gorged ourselves on all the awesome homemade food his mom, aunts and Grandma made-we really all did gorge- people were crashing left and right about 30 min after we all finished eating :) In the spirit of celebrating our freedom and the second amendment of our Constitution, some of the guests fetched their shotguns for some skeet shooting-Sabrina through some miracle managed to sleep through this-go figure she wakes up if a mouse farts at our house but will sleep right through about an hour of 12 gauge shotgun blasts about 100 yards away. Thankfully no one was injured, least of all the neighbors hunting dogs that came over at a dead run when the first shotgun fired. It was a great day by the water and my family really enjoyed getting to know John's family better.
Time for fireworks!
What you dont see is all of the guests cowering behind solid objects.
"Please let me shoot at least one"
"Whew, I got one!"
John is practicing in case my sister acts up after they are married.
What a view!!!

A new friend
Our good friends Sarah and Stephen Perry joined us down here in VA beach for the weekend. They brought along their almost 4 month old Simone, who by the way is totally adorable and very chatty :) Sabrina for the most part tolerated her and kept pointing at her and squealing which we took as a good sign that she was OK with her being around. I got a small preview of what life will be like with two kids one morning as I was left with both kids. Whoa boy was that a challenge! It was a little stressful trying to keep Simone comfortable, poor thing was teething, and keep Sabrina feeling like she was getting her share of attention. At some point Sab decided she needed a bit more attention than she was getting so she toddled over to Simone, took her teething ring, and gave her a little..ummm..love pat. Here is a pic of Simone who is just beautiful and another one of Sabrina shwoing that she does indeed know how to "touch nicely". Simone was a good sport as Sabrina used her to learn how to interact with her soon to be born cousin.

More beach fun!
We took Sabrina to beach again the day before last. We had a fun few hours playing in the sand, collecting sea shells and swimming in the ocean. Here are some pics from our afternoon:
