Way to go Tony!

This past Friday after months of grueling physical challenges and hours of classwork our Tony graduated to become a member of the nationally respected Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Squad as a FireMedic-a fully trained firefighter and paramedic. Mom, Dad, Kyle, the kids and I were on hand to see him be handed his black fire hat and gear and take the Fireman's oath. We are all so very proud of him for this accomplishment and feel safer knowing that if ever needed he will be there in case of an emergency. What he and his brethren do every day takes great courage and personal sacrifice so please be sure to keep them in your prayers that when called upon they have what it takes to do what needs doing and come home to their families safe and sound.
Way to go T-Man!!

2 months old!!

Our little man hit the two month mark this week. Seriously-where did those 8 weeks go?? He had his two month well visit a few days ago and we learned our little man is off the charts. He weighs in at a whopping 14lbs 11 ounces and is in the 98+ percentile range!! His height was in the 25th percentile and his head circumference was in the 50th percentile. That means that Caleb is fatter than 98% of other babies his age!! The Dr joked that I must have Haggen Daaz in my breastmilk. I corrected her and told her it was Cold Stone not Haggen Daaz :) I guess its no coincidence I received my first spontaneous smile from him right when I was getting ready to nurse him. I hope it was me he was smiling at and not my boob :-)

Caleb is a happy, affectionate baby who is a very sound sleeper. He has to be with the worlds loudest sister often screaming a foot or two away from him while he naps. We are working on getting him to sleep through the night. There have been a few rough nights but for the most part we can get one 8 hr stretch out of him then he will wake up for a quick feeding and diaper change then go back down for another 4-5 hrs. So far it seems like Kyle and I have been gifted with two good sleepers!! Lucky us I know...

He recognizes us now and will give us those big gummy smiles that just melt your heart. So far his big sister Sabrina seems to be his most favorite person on Earth with me and Kyle running a close second and third. Whenever he is awake and she is near he just stares at her completely fascinated by whatever she is doing. It is so adorable to see them together! She is so sweet with him and seems to delight in playing with him and trying to get him to grab for his toys. I can go into another room and ask her to keep an eye on him and let me know if he gets fussy and she will often turn on the vibrate function on his bouncy chair to try to calm him before coming to get me. I really hope this keeps up but I highly doubt the love fest will continue forever.

He is still quite the chatterbox, often cooing and gurgling for minutes at a time. I wish I had a baby translator so we knew what he was saying!

Here are some recent pics of our adorable chunk-a-munk!!

Happy boy!

Snuggling with big sister!

Chatting with the kids

Looks like Caleb is taking after his Mommy and Grammie by being quite the chatterbox. He is quite vocal, I think, for being so young. See for yourselves!!

Sabrina's point of view

Nanny and Poppy gifted Sabrina with her very first camera as an Easter gift. Needless to say she has taken over 447!! pictures since then. I uploaded a few of then in order to clear out the memory card and here is a small sampling of some of the best ones she took. Its neat to see the world from 37" high...

Happy Easter

Sabrina was quite thrilled to discover that the Easter bunny did in fact know where she lives. She was very happy with the contents of her basket and has been playing with her new toys non stop. Easter Sunday was spent at Grammie and Grampy Michl's house where we ate a wonderful meal as usual, Sabrina went on her first Easter egg hunt and both Mommy and Daddy wound up passing out on the sofa :) Newborns are tiring!!

Family time

The four of us took full advantage of the absolutely beautiful weather we have been having and ventured out to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna last weekend. Its owned by the county and has acres and acres of trees, flowers and plants with a paved pathway around and through the park. We saw Cherry Blossom trees, Koi fish the size of a small house cat and Sabrina got to play in their sand pit. Here are some pics from our outing:
